Jingdezhen is widely known for its blue
& white porcelain since the Yuan Dynasty. However, during the Northern Song Dynasty,it began producing white porcelain to rival the Ding kiln. Unlike the ivory-white of Ding ware,
this porcelain has a distinct bluish tint.
The beautiful blue that pools in the glaze has long fascinated people, and
since the 20th century,
it has been known as "Yingqing"
(Shadow Blue). This piece is thinly potted with a Lingzhi mushroom motif carved on the interior. |
